New Delhi: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s major stroke in the battle against coronavirus pandemic, India will get an additional 50,000 ventilators apart from the 47,000 that have been around so far in public and private hospitals in the last 70 years.
Notably, 100 of these ventilators will arrive today from the United States.
National In-Charge of Social Media, BJP Mahila Morcha, Priti Gandhi said, “For those asking, in the last 70 years, India got a total of 47,000 ventilators in public & private hospitals. With #PMCARES, in one stroke, India will get 50,000 more ventilators!”

According to the government report, an amount of Rs 3100 crore has been allocated from the PM CARES Fund. It includes Rs 2000 crore for supply of 50,000 ‘Made-in India’ ventilators to Government Hospitals run by Centre/States/UTs, Rs 1000 crore for care of migrant labourers and Rs 100 crore for vaccine development.
The fund was set up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March as a public charitable trust “aimed at strengthening the fight against COVID-19” with the PM, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as trustees.
