Kochi: The explosives that were stored to be used in the quarry at Malayatoor blasted on Monday at 3.30 am. Two migrant workers were killed in the explosion.
The incident took place at Vijaya quarry at Illithode in Malayattoor. The explosives were stored in a building built for the accommodation of the workers, right next to the quarry.
According to reports, the two migrant workers killed in the explosion were under self-quarantine. The building has been completely destroyed in the explosion.
The bodies of the workers have been taken to a hospital at Angamaly. The cause of explosion is yet to be ascertained.
