Heart of a brain dead patient in Hyderabad is being transported by a non-stop Hyderabad Metro train from Nagole Metro Station to Jubilee Hills Check post metro station. It would have taken at least 45 minutes for an ambulance to travel by road and reach Apollo Hospitals situated at Jubilee hills whereas it takes 30 minutes to reach by metro.
The patient from whom the heart was harvested was a farmer Narsaiah who was declared brain dead yesterday, after he fell off his bike while returning to his field after getting diesel for his tractor.
The family of the farmer agreed to donate all the organs including his heart to a matching patient at Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. The donation was facilitated by Jeevandan, an organization that enables organ donation.
