Today, India marks the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attack across Mumbai. 10 Pakistani terrorists voyaged and took Mumbai’s Taj at its gun point. History marked the black day as 26/11.
India witnessed the greatest terrorist attack ever in the era. The terrorist group carried AK 47 guns, grenades, huge RDX collection. In their bloodshed operation 166 lost their lives more than 500 causalities in a span of 3 days.
The attack in India resembled 9/11, the attack on US’ World Trade Center. The terrorists targeted and attacked CST where lakhs of travelrs reach on daily basis, the railway station, Taj Hotel, Trident Hotel, Leopold Cafe, Kama Hospital, Nariman House and Metro Cinema.
NSG crew flew in resue of Mumbai. Anti-terrorist squad, Military force and the police engaged in defending the city. Encounter which lasted for 58 hours, Indian military force killed 9 terrorists and captured Ajmal Kasab, the last among the attackers, alive.
Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the terrorist attack in Mumbai and the head of Lashkar-e-Taiba was blacklisted by the US. Pakistan banned Lashkar-e-Taiba with hesitation, surrendering to the tremendous pressure from the US, in 2002.
Ajmal Kasab confronted at the time of interrogation that Pakistan trained all the terrorists to move aiding only with maps, calculating depth of the ocean, using the GPS, training to control ship, fishing using the net, before sending them to India with the mission of destruction.
Anti-terrorist Squad head Hemant Karkare, senior police officials Vijay Salaskar and Ashok Kamte died defending the nation. Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan,officer in the Indian Army, lost his life in his brave attempt to break through the terrorist held Taj hotel. Ajmal Kasab was hanged to death later in November 2012 in Pune Yerwada prison.
The brave men, the martyrs who saved the city and returned it to the people of Mumbai, the lives lost in the attack have no means of compensating.
India pays its respect to the martyrs who died protecting their nation.
