Five incoming passengers with RT-PCR negative reports found COVID-19 positive at Port Blair

The move of Andaman and Nicobar Administration to make Rapid Antigen Test mandatory at Port Blair Airport to double check COVID-19 infection among incoming passengers seems to be working as on the very first day of compulsory RAT, as many as five incoming passengers have been tested COVID-19 positive at Port Blair, despite of the fact, they carried negative RT-PCR report of mainland India labs.

Addressing a press conference at Port Blair, the Secretary IP&T, Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh today said that all passengers, who landed at Port Blair today by eleven flights from various parts of the country were taken to ITF Ground and Govt. Sr. Sec. School, School Line of Port Blair city by buses of the Transport Department for compulsory RAT test, while their baggage was transferred to the location by trucks.

The secretary informed that the Andaman and Nicobar Administration is geared up to deal with the rising number of cases.

As per last updated reports of today morning there were 117 active cases in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and today nearly 27 new cases have been detected in Andamans.
