UP govt issues fresh guidelines on Covid restrictions

In wake of surge of corona cases , the Uttar Pradesh government has issued fresh guidelines banning any kind of social, cultural or religious gathering and ordered closure of cinema halls, gyms, spas and shopping complexes, particularly in the containment areas.

Chief Secretary R K Tiwar while issuing the guidelines here on Thursday said that wedding ceremonies with minimum 50 persons and cremation with 20 persons should be allowed.

“Necessary services such as health care, police, fire, bank, electricity, water and irrigation, scheduled operation of common transport should continue. Public transport like railways, metro, buses and cabs should operate with a maximum of 50 percent capacity. There will be no restriction on the operations of inter-state and intra-state buses along with transportation of essential commodities,” he said.

All offices, government and private, will work with a maximum of 50 percent of their strength. All industrial and scientific establishments, both government and private, will work in accordance with the physical distance norms. The employees will be tested periodically through the Rapid Antigen Test.

The guidelines said that as virus transmission is through human contact, the strategies needed to prevent virus transmission include not only prohibiting the spread of the virus but also prohibiting human contact. It stressed on implementing covid guidelines.

The above restrictions will remain in force for the next 14 days.
