As the reports are pouring in about children being rendered orphan after death of their parents during covid pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government will amend rules to allow extending financial help to more than two children of a family.
The present rule allows financial help to only two children of a family in a case of calamity.
Additional Chief Secretary Information Navneet Sehgal said here on Wednesday that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has clarified that these children are the responsibility of the state government. “CM has said that the state will ensure all facilities to these children,” he said.
Manoj Rai, Director, Department of Women and Child Development said that government rules will be tweaked so that all the affected children of a family will be provided financial assistance even if they are more than two.
The District probation officers of the state have been apprised of the government move and they have also been asked to identify the children, below 18 years of age, who have been orphaned in this pandemic.
