Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced the cancellation of the annual plus two board examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE)for the current year.

The examination was cancelled in view of the Covid pandemic situation in the state.

Mr Patnaik said the plus two examinations were cancelled keeping in view the health security of the students, parents and the teachers.

The Chief Minister said the life of the students was more important than all other things. There would be limitless opportunities ahead and the society and the civilisation could move ahead if life is secured, he remarked.

Mr Patnaik said the future of our country and the nation and the health security of our students is more important than the examination.

He said teachers, parents and students would have faced a lot of problems had the exam been conducted. So the government took this important decision in the larger interest of the students.

The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts, strong willpower and patience of the students and their family members in controlling the situation during this sensitive period.

He directed the CHSE to evaluate the knowledge of the students as per the advice of the experts through well defined objective criteria within a time-bound manner.

If any student is not satisfied with the evaluation process then they can sit for the examination. The CHSE will decide the timing of the examination after reviewing the situation, the Chief Minister said.
