Thiruvanathapuram: After a historic win at Tokyo Olympics, Malayalee Hockey team member PR Sreejesh, will arrive in Kerala today. He will reach Kochi Airport at evening 5 pm. Sreejesh will be given a warm welcome at Nedumbassery Airport by State Sports Council, Kerala Government and Hockey association.
Sports minister V. AbduRahiman, Sports Council President Mercykuttan, Olympics Association President V. Sunil Kumar will also be present to receive Sreejesh. After that, with accompanying vehicles, Sreejesh will be given a welcome through Kalady, Perumbavoor, Ponjasseri and then to his home in Kizhakkambalam. Crowd has been advised by Police not to shake hands with Sreejesh. Sreejesh has been told to greet them with folded hands. This is due to the ongoing covid situation in the state.
It is after a long span of 41 years Indian Hockey team has won a medal in the Olympic Games. State government has not yet announced any prize money for Sreejesh. Criticism has emerged against state government from several quarters regarding this.
