New Delhi: National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has proposed strict guidelines for children under 3 months. The guidelines are about certain restrictions and instructions including their contracts.
The NCPCR has received various complaints about child abuse in the film industry. In this background they decided to issue guidelines to ensure a safe environment for children.
The proposal clarifies the children less than 3 months of age should not be used for filming but they can be filmed in content related to breastfeeding and socializing campaigns. Children under 6 years should not be allowed to act in front of powerful lights and also have restrictions in using makeup products.
No contracts are applicable for children in film and advertisement shootings. Children should only be used for shooting for a maximum of 27 days and also three hours of break should be given to them while shooting.
The elders in the location should not smoke or drink alcohol in public.
In each case, failure to comply with the instructions is considered to be an offence and the producer will be imprisoned for three years.
These recommendations were issued by the Child Rights Commission to all states.
