Srinagar, June 27 (UNI) Security forces shot dead a militant during an ongoing gun battle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, police said. They said the battle started at Nowpora-Kherpora, Trubji area of Kulgam during a cordon and a search operation.
“As the security forces cordoned the suspected spot, the hidden terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight,” a security official said. ?In the gunfight so far one terrorist has been killed.?
Police said the operation is underway. This month security forces have stepped up anti militant operations in Kashmir and in June, 30 militants have been shot dead.
