New Delhi: The Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani responded to Trinamool Congress MP Jawahar Sircar, who taunted her on taking the additional responsibility of the Department of the minority.

Jawahar Sircar asked “Is Smriti Irani the brand ambassador of BJP’s secularism? How can minorities rely on such a person who believes in extreme Hindutva and married to a Parsi?”

“Aren’t Parsis and Sikhs Indians?” Smriti Irani responded

“There is no intention to appease anyone but to serve all people equally. As a minister, I am serving the nation not communities”, she added

Smriti Irani took over the additional responsibility of the minorities following the resignation of Mukthar Abbas Naqvi due to the expiration of his tenure.

Meanwhile, Union Law Minister Kiran Rijiju also responded against Jawahar Sircar’s comment. “I am expecting someone will soon escape from the dangerous hands of fake secularism and appeasement politics, ” said Rijiju.
