Assam: The flood occurred in the western region of Assam has been subsided. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has informed that around 2.28 lakh people from 6 districts are still facing issues.
From the beginning of this year, several areas in the state have been facing flood situations. It created a huge loss to the victims who suffered extreme issues. Around 193 people were dead and among them 19 were killed in the landslide.
Assam faced huge loss during the flood. The ASDMA has reported that 172 villages and 572 hectors of land got drowned completely. Kachari, Chirang, Dima Hasao, Golaghat, Marigaon and Kamalpur are some villages that affected the most.
1.34 lakh people in Kachari district, 92853 in kamalpur and 1052 in Marigaon district are suffering due to the flood.
As per reports, 15,705 people including 2636 children are living as refugees in 59 relief camps in these regions. The roads and houses were destroyed. The Assam Water Resource Minister Piyush Hasarika has informed that the rescue operations are still actively proceeding to control the landslide that occurs due to the water rise in Brahmaputra river. He also clarified that the authority has plans to install Government Geo Water Bags in these areas to control the landslide.
