Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday paid tributes to the Indian soldiers, who lost their lives during the Kargil War fought between India and Pakistan in 1999, to mark the 23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas.
On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, at Kargil Shaheed Smriti Vatika in Lucknow, the CM said, “Our soldiers sacrificed everything to protect the glory and dignity of the nation and through Kargil, the ill intentions of Pakistan and its attempts of infiltrating into India and forcibly imposing war upon us also came to the fore. However, our heroes not only achieved victory but also displayed their exemplary bravery in front of the world. I bow down to the valour, unwavering patriotism and indomitable spirit of our soldiers.”
Yogi appealed to the people to rise above differences over petty issues and narrow-minded beliefs, be it caste, religion, region or language and work together in harmony to achieve the ultimate goal of a prosperous India.
Saluting the extraordinary valour, courage, leadership skills and dedication of Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey of Lucknow who laid down his life in the Kargil war along with Captain Aditya Mishra, Lance Naik Kewalanand Dwivedi, Rifleman Sunil Jung and Major Ritesh Sharma, Yogi said that the state government named the country’s first Sainik school after Captain Manoj Pandey for the future generations to gain inspiration.
