New Delhi: Central cabinet has granted approval for an amount of 1.64 lakh crore rupees to revive BSNL, said Telecom Minister Aswini Vaishnav. The amount will be used to improve the quality of services, to de-stress balance sheet and to escalate the fibre network.
The package aims to renew the services of BSNL in four years span. Major phases of the revival will be completed in first two years.
The package contains a cash component of rupees 43,964 crore and a non cash component of rupees 1.2 lakh crore. The administrative allocation of spectrum BSNL requires to offer 4G services. The spectrum will be allocated in the 900/1800 MHz band and for that, the amount of rupees 44,993 crore will used. The Central Government will fund Capex with 22,471 crore rupees.
The minister informed that the project will provide job opportunities for one lakh people.
