Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued alerts for several districts amid heavy rains in the state. The prevailing cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal is the reason for the intensified rain, informed IMD. The whether departments warns that heavy rain is expected for the next four days.
Orange alert has been issued for districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Idukki for today and heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at eight districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Thrissur tomorrow, alert issued for 12 districts on Wednesday and Thursday.
The authorities have urges people living in the coastal and hilly areas to take all precautions. People in the forest areas are also asked to remain alert.
Strong winds with speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph are very likely to prevail and fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.
