Kannur: After Wayanad, the African swine fever is reported at Kanichar Panchayat’s Kolakkad region in Kannur. A detailed meeting headed by the district collector, will be held today to evaluate the situation. Samples were sent to the laboratory in Bhopal.
The African swine fever was first reported in Wayanad some days back. Kerala is the first state that reports swine fever in South Asia .
Infected pigs were found at a farm in Mananthavadi. Samples were taken and sent to the lab in Bhopal and thus confirmed the disease in Kerala.
Then, the culling of infected pigs began so as to wipe out the infection.
