Rains cause havoc; 6411 people evacuated; 221 relief camps opened

Thiruvananthapuram: As continuous heavy rainfall wreck havoc in the state, a total of 6411 people have been evacuated to safe shelters. 221 relief camps were opened in the state. As the water level in Cahlakkudi river is increasing, measures to shift people living in the shores are being taken.

In Thrissur, 1685 people have been moved to 51 relief camps. And in Pathanamthitta, 43 relief camps are functioning with 1685 people.

Thiruvananthapuram district has three camps with 43 people, in Alappuzha, 15 relief camps were opened and 289 people have been shifted to these camps. Idukki has eight camps with 160 people. 753 people have been evacuated to 20 camps in Ernakulam district.

In Palakkad, a total of five relief camps have been opened with 182 people. Malappuram has four camps with 66 people, Kozhikkod, 11 camps with 359 people, Wayanad, 11 camps with 512 people, Kannur 4 camps with 217 people and  Kasarkod, one camp with 53 people.
