SFI anarchy in centre of the city; Cops beaten by SFI in public

Thiruvananthapuram: SFI activists created a dramatic scene in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city, beaten police in public and unleashed hooliganism. SFI activists attacked traffic police who tried to block the bike that crossed the signal. Cops from SAP camp Vinaya Chandran and Sharath were badly injured in the attack.

Around 20 SFI workers beaten two policemen at six in the evening last day at Palayam. Both the injured men are admitted at General Hospital. Traffic was disrupted for almost half an hour.

The issue erupted when the bike rider violated traffic signal and took U turn. Amal Krishna, who was on duty, blocked him.This provoked the rider, he pushed the police and started shouting. Vinaya Chandran and Sharath, on seeing this attack, interfered then. The bike rider called his friends over phone, and students rushed to the spot from the University College. Amal Krishna informed the Police Control Room and requested help. But by the time when more cops reached, the attacked policemen were struggling for their life .

When the police team tried to take the attackers into jeep,SFI leaders blocked the vehicle. More and more activists entered the spot. The injured policemen were taken to hospital in another jeep.

SFI District President Shijith has responded that SFI has no connection with the incident.
