Thiruvananthapuram: Shutters of the Idukki, Idamalayar dam have opened today at 10 am. 100 cumex of water is being released. The water level in Periyar has already been raised when the shutters of Idukki dam opened yesterday.
Ernakulam District Collector informed that there is nothing to panic and all precautionary measures have been implemented in the district. People are advised to stay vigilant. A 21 member NDRF team has been deployed in the area.
The district administration also informs that the people’s representatives and the officials of various departments should be ready.
Meanwhile, after checking the intensity of rain and the water level, the amount of water, releasing from the Idukki dam, will probably be raised today.
