NewDelhi: India expressed apprehension in United Nations over a shell attack near a nuclear power plant in Ukraine. The incident happened near Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The countries should pay attention to the safety of nuclear power plants, said India’s representative in the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj.
India is concerned about the safety of nuclear reactors in Ukraine and also, India gives much importance in ensuring safety, as accidents involving with nuclear power plants is likely to have serious consequences. This could have a serious impact on public health as well, said Ruchira.
India have been constatly calling for an end to its enimities and clashes between two countries, since the start of the conflict, stated Ruchira. The conflict is causing disruptions to the supply of food grains, fertilizer and fuel in the developing countries. The Indian representative also welcomed the initiative supported by the UN Secretary General to facilitate the export of grains from Ukraine through the Black Sea and the export of fertilizers from Russia.
