Mumbai: Communicable diseases are being raised in Mumbai city. 138 swine flu cases, 412 cases of malaria and 73 dengue cases were reported within the last fifteen days.
The massive increase in the number of cases occurred between 1st and 14th August, clarified the officials of Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
BMC also said that although there was a massive rise in swine flu, dengue fever and malaria, the number of cases in hepatitis, rat fever and gastroenteritis came down.
Within 15 days, 29 rat fever cases, 237 gastro cases and 26 hepatitis cases were reported.
The cases affected with swine flu are comparatively high and its primary symptoms are fever, cough, throat pain, body pain, headache, diarrhoea and vomiting.
The health department has given instructions to people which includes, wash hands often using soap and water, cover your nose while coughing and sneezing, avoid touching nose and mouth unnecessarily. It has also advised people to avoid self medications.
