Kochi: Within ten days, Kochi witnessed three shocking murders in connection with drug usage alone. Police decided to implement strict camera surveillance, Operation Nireekshan, throughout the city. Two lakhs of surveillance cameras are being placed in different areas of the city.

Last day two murders occurred in connection with drug usage in Ernakulam South and at a flat in Kakkanad. Even small arguments are ending in massive attacks and murders and the number of people who are becoming addicted to drugs are also increasing day-by-day.

As people from different regions of the state are coming here, it is difficult to spot the culprits. Not even the people sharing the same room or apartments have known the details of their roommates. It is decided to place two lakh cameras in the city with the help of people including flat owners and businessmen.

Strict actions will be taken against the flat associations that do not obey the instructions. They will also be added as accused if the rules are not followed as instructed. Police also said that the police clearance certificates are essential before hiring flats.

Along with this, measures to control drug usage and selling are also being implemented.
