Thiruvananthapuram: The state has witnessed a drastic increase in the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. 3000 patients have already undergone treatment in various hospitals this year till date. The indices released by the Department of Health indicate 20 death at the current year. Though the health department claims of undertaking thorough preventive measures, the diseases due to mosquito-borne viral infections remains the same.
Dengue fever, malaria and chikungunya are the leading mosquito-borne viral diseases spreading in the state. Lack of precautionary measures including pre-monsoon cleaning worsened the situation.
So far 2500 people were infected with dengue fever. 20 deaths have been reported due to dengue.177 malaria cases and 46 chikungunya cases were reported.
In the year 2021, a total of 2500 patients were treated with various mosquito-borne diseases.
The health department has already instructed the affected districts to strengthen preventive steps so as to reduce the impending outbreak.
