Islamabad: The death toll due to heavy rains and floods in Pakistan has crossed one thousand. So far 1033 people have lost their lives. 1527 people have been injured.
Sindh province has been severely affected by the recent rains. 76 people have died in the last 24 hours. 31 people died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and six in Gilgit-Baltistan. Four people have lost their lives in Baluchistan. 119 people died.
International media reports that around 110 districts have been severely affected by the flood. Out of this 72 districts have been declared as disaster affected areas. 51,275 people were rescued.
3,451.5 km of road was damaged by the rain. 149 bridges were destroyed. 949,858 houses were damaged. Around 170 buildings were also destroyed. Heavy rains are still continuing in the country. In this situation, the government of Pakistan has declared a national emergency.
