Ernakulam: Dr. Abhilash, the head of Weather Department, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has explained the cause of abrupt heavy rain lashed in Kochi today.
He said that the heavy rain is due to the cyclonic circulation, comes under the mild cloudburst. The city witnessed very heavy rain from early this morning. Today’s rain led to extensive waterlogging on several roads stretches across the city.
Kochi received 8 cm rain in one and a half hour duration. It is tough to predict such rain but rain is likely in the next three days too, added Dr. Abhilash.
Apart from Kochi, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta too received heavy rain today.
