Thrissur: The son tried to set his mother on fire after she did not give him money to buy liquor. The tragic incident took place in Thrissur last night. Manoj (40) is under police custody.
Manoj tried to kill his mother Sreemathy (75), a native of Punnayurkulam Chammannur. She was first admitted to a private hospital in Kunnamkulam and then to a hospital in Thrissur, but when her condition worsened, she was shifted to Ernakulam. The issue started last night when Manoj asked for money to buy alcohol. When she denied to give him money, the two got into a verbal argument. Later, Manoj poured kerosene on his mother and set her on fire. Vadakekkad CI registered a case in the incident.
