Pathanamthitta: Due to the continuous harassments of the CPM leaders, a 68 year old man named Babu hanged to death at Madathumpady in Pathanamthitta. In the death note, Babu wrote that he has committed suicide due to the continuous harassment of the CPM leader and Panchayath President PS Mohan and the local committee secretary Robin.
The one and half pages long death note has been found from the place. Babu’s wife said that he was broken by the action of the party members who encroached his 2.25 cent property.
There were several suicide cases occurred in the state over the threat of the CPM workers. Recently a person named Prasanth attempted to suicide due to similar reasons in front of the house of the Vadakara Branch Secretary. He had admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College after drinking Kerosene. Prasanth said that the continuous threats and torturing from the CPM party members led him to the suicide attempt.
