Wayanad: Four swords were seized from a tyre shop owned by a local leader of Popular Front of India (PFI) at Erumatheruvu near Mananthavady during a raid by a team of Kerala Police on Tuesday evening.

Police took two staff of the shop into custody for interrogation and search is going on to nab shop owner Saleem.

The tyre shop and the nearest district committee office of the PFI were also raided by the police.
Meanwhile, many shops and houses of PFI activists in the Palakkad district were also raided by the police.
For the last two days, raids were conducted at many shops, supermarkets and houses of the PFI workers in Kannur district and recovered documents, computers and laptops.

The raids were part of ascertaining the financial sources and conspiracy hatched by PFI workers to instigate violence reported on Septemebr 23 hartal day.

The police team conducted raids from September 24, after the State wide raids were conducted by NIA and arrested National and State leaders of PFI from various districts on Thursday. Large scale of violence including petrol bomb attacks and damaging of public and private properties had reported at Kannur district on September 23, on the day of hartal called by PFI to protest against the arrest of PFI Leaders.
