Palakkad: The driver and bus owner who were responsible for the Vadakkancheri accident are in remand. Bus driver Jomon and owner Arun were remanded for 14 days. Both were produced before the Alathur Magistrate.
After the arrest of Jomon and Arun, there are reports of serious violations of the law. In the last three months, Arun has received alerts 19 times. Despite receiving the alert messages, pointing out the excessive speed, Arun was constantly ignoring them. Meanwhile, footage of Jomon dancing on the bus while driving also came out.
Eventhough the court has also come out against the violation of traffic rules, the motor vehicle department has come forward with strict measures. The MVD took action against 134 buses in the state-wide inspection. 11 buses were found to have damaged the speedometer and 18 buses were fitted with banned lights. The Motor Vehicle Department also informed that a total fine of Rs 2.16 lakh has been imposed.
