Kochi: Kerala Blasters secured a thrilling victory in the opening match of the ninth season of ISL football. The Yellow Army defeated Kolkata giants East Bengal by three goals to one. Blasters fans flew into the Kaloor Jawaharlal Stadium to welcome the ISL back to Kochi after two years.
Both teams went scoreless in the first half. But Blasters dominated throughout the second half. The result was seen in the 71st minute. Luna scored the first goal from Harmanjot Khabra’s pass into the East Bengal post.
After winning the opening match itself, Blasters gave their fans a good treat in the new season. The Blasters got off to a dream start to the season as they picked up three points in their first game.
