New Delhi: Today, the court will consider the bail plea of Malayali media activist Siddique Kappan, who is in jail in a sedition case. The Lucknow court is hearing the petition today after several adjournments.
The Supreme Court had granted bail to Kappan in the UAPA case. But he did not get bail in the ED case. The case heard by the court on September 29 was changed to 10 due to the judge’s vacation. Meanwhile, Kappan’s lawyer had approached the court asking to consider the bail application.
On October 5, 2020, Kappan was arrested by the police on his way to Hathras. In the subsequent investigation, the police discovered the anti-national activities carried out by Kappan along with Popular front. Following this, he was imprisoned.
