Tokyo: A young man stole 22 lakh rupees from a 65-year-old woman. He took money from her by pretending to be a cosmonaut. The young man tricked a woman living in Japan into believing that he was a Russian cosmonaut.
The two met through the social media platform Instagram. The young man introduced himself to her by saying that he lives in the space station. The woman believed the stories after seeing many photos from space on the profile of the young man.
After that, the two chatted constantly and fell in love. Later, the young man tried to extort money. He told the woman that he wanted to come back and that he had no money for it and needed Rs 22 lakh. Later, the young man asked for money, saying that he can plan the landing between August 19 and September 5. When she realized that she had been cheated, she lodged a complaint with the police. A case was registered against him based on the woman’s complaint.
