Kochi: Kochi City Police Commissioner C H Nagaraju has appreciated the speedy and effective enquiry of police officers who conducted investigation on Ilanthur human sacrifice case. Unfurling the brutal facts of the case was a herculean task. Enquiry is underway to find out if there are more criminals involved in this case, said the Commissioner.
Shafi, the first accused has sexual perversions. He denied the crime at first and after a detailed interrogation with all evidence, the defendant pleaded guilty.
The Commissioner used the words psychopath and pervert while speaking about the criminal Shafi. The accused targeted on the financially and socially weak people and used them. Shafi went school only till sixth standard and later involved in several jobs like driving, vehicle repairing and running hotels. Around 15 cases were registered against the accused in ten years of time.
Shafi disused as ‘Sreedevi’, appeared on social media with the tag line ” do contact if you have any financial straits”. He had been in connection with Bhagaval Singh since 2019.
Meanwhile, police informed that Bhagaval Singh and Laila had no criminal background. Both of the accused had admitted that they had eaten human flesh after committing the heinous crime. Kochi City Police Commissioner said that no evidence was found in this regard.
