Kozhikode: Gold smuggling again at Karipur airport. Police seized more than 1 kg of gold from the passenger who arrived from Bahrain. Muhammad Janees, a native of Kundungal, Kozhikode, was arrested.
He was trying to smuggle gold by hiding it in the form of capsules inside his body. Janees tried to smuggle 1.007 kg of gold in mixed form. The seized gold would be worth Rs 52 lakh in the domestic market. Janees landed at Karipur Airport on an Air India Express flight from Bahrain on Thursday.
The police were watching him when he came out of the airport after the customs check. He was taken into custody by the police while he was going out in a car.
