Idukki: The water level in Mullaperiyar dam has reached 136 feet. Tamil Nadu has issued its first warning after the water level rose. The warning is given as part of the procedures. The maximum storage capacity of the dam is 142 feet. 1544 cubic feet of water flows into the dam per second.
Tamil Nadu is taking 525 cubic feet of water. The shutters of the Mullaperiyar Dam were opened last August following heavy rains. The dam was opened after the water level reached the rule curve limit of 137.50 feet.
