Imphal: A Myanmar national has been arrested for impersonating a deceased man and also for conducting smuggling. The arrest was recorded by the Manipur police. The detained is identified as Lenkhenmang Mate, 26 years, of Tuivang Village in Myanmar.
Police have seized an Adhaar card from him which actually belonged to Letminthang Baite, 30, of L Ngamlet Baite of Charongching village, who passed away in 2019 .
Police told that accused had plans to conduct illegal trade beyond the border. Lenkhenmang Mate got arrested from Chandel district, sharing border with Myanmar, stretches around 390 kilometres.
Case has been filed and investigation underway, said the police.
