Lucknow: Report says that thousands of Madrassas are working illegally in Uttar Pradesh. 16 lakh students are studying in around 8500 Madrassas. They are working illegally without the permission of the UP Board of Madrassa Education.

The report comes out about 8,496 Madrassas that are working illegally, when the investigation of the illegal madrassas reached its final stage. In October, there were 7,189 Madrassas. Reports of 60 out of 75 districts have come out so far. Rest of the 15 Madrassas have been given time till 15th this month. The UP Government started the survey on 10th September.

Apart from this, around 16,513 registered Madrassas are functioning under the UP Board of Madrassa Education. Among this, 560 madrassas receive grants from the UP government. It is found that more than 20 lakh students are registered in these madrassas.

The UP Government decided to conduct a Madrassa Survey to provide better education and health for students under minority communities. The intention is to wipe out terrorist activities conducted in madrassas.
