Thiruvananthapuram: A new circular has come out that says to not use the word ‘wife’ anymore in the Government application forms. The order has been issued by the employee governance reforms department. Now onwards, the applications must use ‘Spouse’ instead of ‘Wife’. ‘Him’ and ‘His’ should be substituted with ‘He’ and ‘She’.
The usage of ‘Wife of’ has been changed to ‘Spouse of’. In the application forms, the space given to add the details of parents must give options to add the details of either one of the parents or the details of parents.
The circular also instructed to change the usage of only ‘He’, ‘His’ to ‘He’ ‘She’ and ‘His’ and ‘Her’.
The new circular has been issued as an initial step to make the Government application forms gender neutral.
