Kottayam: Police found nine girls including POCSO victims, who have gone missing from the shelter home in Manganam. They were found at the house of a relative of one of the children. The children told the police that they left on their own will.
The children have stated that they travelled from Kottayam to Ernakulam by bus. They are being interrogated in detail. A decision will be taken whether to bring them back to Kottayam and stay in the shelter home or not. The police also informed that they will check the security breach in the shelter home.
As per reports, it is said that the children escaped from a private shelter home run by the Mahila Samakhya NGO. The nine children who went on hiding have been staying in the shelter home in connection with various cases. 12 of the girl children have been residing here. The centre has the affiliation of the central child welfare board.
Meanwhile, the students were reportedly being protested here for a week. The police have started an investigation on this case.
