New Delhi: The Uttarakhand Government has brought strict rules against forceful conversions. If It is proved, the culprits will receive 10 years imprisonment and fine. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting presided by Pushkar Sing Dhami, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. It is also decided to shift the Uttarakhand High Court from Nainital to Haldwani.
The Uttarakhand CM had already clarified that the rules regarding forceful conversions will be amended soon.
The Uttarakhand Government has amended the rules on religious freedom. The five year imprisonment on forceful conversion has been extended to 10 years now. It also has given in the rules to change the forceful religious conversions to non billable offences.
