New Delhi: The Supreme Court will consider today the jail transfer plea ofaccused Amirul Islam in the Perumbavoor Jisha murder case. He approached the Supreme Court with a demand to transfer him from Kerala to Assam jail. The petition states that his wife and parents are in Assam and are in poverty.

Amirul Islam pointed out that his family was facing difficulties in visiting him in Viyyur Jail. He is currently in Viyyur Jail after the trial court sentenced him to death in the brutal rape and murder case of law student Jisha. The accused has also filed a petition in the High Court against the death sentence.

On April 28, 2016, Jisha, a law student, was found murdered in Kurupampadi. The post-mortem report revealed that there were 38 injuries on her body. After more than 25 labourers were detained and interrogated, it was concluded that the construction workers were behind the murder.

The investigation extended to Ameerul Islam and he was arrested on June 14, 2016 from Tamil Nadu border. At the end of the 85-day long trial, the court judged that it was extreme and brutal torture. Then Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court sentenced Ameerul Islam to death.
