Delhi: Jury president Nadav Lapid apologized for insulting Kashmir Files at the India International Film Festival in Goa. Nadav Lapid came out against the inclusion of Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ in the 53rd International Film Festival of India. The Jury Chairman described the film as part of a propaganda and substandard. He was speaking at the closing session of the film festival. In this Nadav Lapid has apologized.

Nadav Lapid said that he did not intend to insult Kashmiri Pandits with his criticism of the Kashmir Files and said that he was sorry that Lapid had been misunderstood. ‘I didn’t want to insult anyone, and my aim was not to insult people or their relatives, who have suffered. I totally apologize if that’s the way they interpreted.’ He also said that he spoke on behalf of the entire jury. Nadav also said that his comments weren’t just his but also represented the thoughts of the entire jury.

Meanwhile, director Vivek Agnihotri responded to Nadav Lapid’s apology saying, ‘If it is not from the heart, it is not an apology’. ‘Cinema is life for me. People thanked me for making Kashmir Files. So why should I be recognized by a foreigner? What does he know about India?’ said Vivek Agnihotri.
