Thiruvananthapuram: An elevator is being constructed at the official residence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. For this, the Public Works Department has sanctioned Rs.25.50 lakh. A copy of the order has been released by Janam TV. The government is spending lakhs of rupees from the public fund on the Chief Minister’s residence while the government is facing a financial crisis.
During the first Pinarayi government, the Cliff House was renovated at cost of crores. During the next administration, lakhs were again spent on the renovation of the official residence. In addition to this, Additional Secretary Lathakumari issued an order on the last day allocating 25.50 lakh rupees for the construction of a lift.
It is reported that the intervention of Public Works Minister Mohammad Riaz is also behind the construction of the lift. Last June, the Public Works Department sanctioned Rs 42.90 lakh for the construction of cattle stables at Cliff House. This led to great controversy. But ignoring this, the government decided to spend lakhs again for the construction of the lift.
