Thiruvananthapuram: Rapid response team meeting was held in the state in view of the increasing number of Covid cases in countries including China. The new Covid variant is more contagious. Minister Veena George informed after the meeting that all the districts have been alerted.
Everyone should wear mask. The minister also suggested that special care should be taken for the elderly persons and children. Wash hands frequently with soap and water after going outside. The minister also suggested that all those who have not taken the vaccine, including the booster dose, should take the vaccine. It has also been instructed to conduct tests on those with symptoms. The minister also informed that genetic sequencing will be strengthened to monitor new variants.
At present, there are very few cases of Covid in the state. There have been only 1431 cases in the month of December. There are very few patients under treatment in hospitals.
NHM State Mission Director, Health Department Director, Medical Education Director, Additional Directors, Deputy Directors and R.R.T. members also attended the meeting.
