Thiruvalla: The Thiruvalla police registered a case of financial fraudulence against Mahila Congress Pathanamthitta district leader and lawyer Vibitha Babu and her father. The action was taken on the basis of a complaint filed by Mathew C Sebastian (75) of Jesus Bhavan in Kaduthuruthy, Poozhikol. According to the complaint, about 14 lakhs of rupees were paid to the accounts of Vibitha and her father several times for the proceedings of Mathew’s property case.
Both Vibitha and her father sought financial help during local election. But as there was no progress in the case, Mathew asked the money back and not received yet, says in the complaint. Meanwhile, Vibitha has also filed a police complaint against Mathew for trespassing into her office.
According to Vibitha’s complaint, part of the money was paid to her for legal advice and the remaining amount was voluntarily given by the complainant for charity work. A case has been registered against Vibitha and her father on Mathew’s complaint and against Mathew on Vibitha’s complaint. In the last local election, Vibitha was the UDF candidate of the Mallappally division of the district panchayath.
