Wayanad: Kerala lost a brave son when the Pulwama terrorist attack claimed the life of V V Vasanthakumar.
Vasanthakumar, who hails from Lakkidi in the hilly district of Wayanad was with the 88th Battalion of CRPF. He was travelling with a convoy of more than 70 vehicles and around 2500 personnel on their way to Srinagar from Jammu.
Frantic calls by Vasanthakumar’s family members to know if he was safe after hearing of the attack were in vain as they did not know the battalion name. However, the family plunged into mourning, when official confirmation was received at 5pm.
Vasanthakumar, who entered in to service with the CRPF in 2001, had visited his home just a couple of weeks back. After serving for 18 years with the CRPF, Vasanthakumar was planning to return to civilian life after 2 more years.
His brother, Sajeevan, said that he felt proud of his brother who sacrificed his life for the motherland.
