Thiruvananthapuram: MLA Saji Cherian is all set to become a minister again. The CPM state secretariat has decided to put back Saji Cherian, who resigned for making unconstitutional remarks. It is decided to take the oath before the assembly session.
The police had submitted a reference report to the court stating that there was no evidence that Saji Cherian had made unconstitutional remarks. After this, the efforts to make him a minister again started. The Secretariat has directed the Chief Minister to fix the date of Saji Cherian’s swearing-in ceremony at the convenience of the Governor. Saji Cherian resigned in July this year after making unconstitutional remarks.
Saji Cherian insulted the Constitution during his speech at a party event in Mallappally. The remarks were that our country has a governance structure that robs the people and that Dr. B R Ambedkar had written down what the British had said. Saji Cherian had to resign following strong protests over the incident.
