CHENNAI: The Indian Railways have decided to introduce sleeper version of Vande Bharat Express after the success of Vande Bharat chair cars. The Railway Board has directed the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in Perambur, Chennai to complete the manufacture of sleeper coaches by this year.
The ICF had earlier informed the Railway Board that they were ready to make sleeper coaches and the Board has given directions to complete the production following this.
It has also been directed to complete the trial run of the train this year itself. As per reports, the Vande Bharat sleeper trains will start service before 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
