Thiruvananthapuram: A report said that Kerala Health Department has decided not to conduct a common entrance test for BSc Nursing students. The decision of the Kerala government comes after Indian Nursing Council (INC) issued an official notice mandating that a common entrance test must be conducted from this year.
The Kerala government is reported to have asked for a delay till next year. However, the government has not given any specific reason for not conducting the common entrance test. It informed the INC that common entrance tests will be implemented from 2024 onwards.
The INC had already given a concession in 2022 for Kerala regarding the common entrance test. The INC had urged all states to conduct the common entrance test for admission to B.Sc Nursing.
The report said the INC had stated last month that if Kerala decides not to hold an entrance test for admissions to BSc Nursing programs, it would adversely affect the future of students joining the courses.
The INC continued that such a situation may lead to the cancellation of the student’s registration and denial of job opportunities.
